Sean Penn: Having a Brawl at the Oscars?
Sean Penn, getting into some kind of scuffle at last night's Academy Awards? Shocking, yes, we know—but it could be true.
According to E! Online, the notoriously hot-headed actor was banned from the post-Oscars Governor's Ball on Sunday night, after he got into a confrontation with Oscar-winning Hurt Locker producer Greg Shapiro backstage at the ceremony.
Not that Penn ever really needs an excuse to mix it up with somebody, but did we mention that Shapiro is currently dating Penn's ex-wife, Robin Wright? Yeah, that might have had something to do with it.
According to a source, shortly after Penn went at it with Shapiro,
"Academy officials...said he was banned from the Ball."
Penn's rep counters that the Milk actor wasn't even planning to go to the Governor's Ball, so there, while a source for the Academy would only confirm, "Sean Penn chose not to attend the Governor's Ball." Which sounds like code for, "If I whitewash what really happened, will you promise not to repeatedly pummel me in the face, Mr. Penn?"
