New Eat, Pray, Love Trailer Released, Unhappy Women Everywhere Rejoice (VIDEO)
The trailer for the upcoming film Eat, Pray, Love has just been released and it sure does look "meh." The film is based on the incredibly popular memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert (think of it as Twilight for older ladies) and has an impressive cast with Julia Roberts, Viola Davis, James Franco and Javier Bardem.
Even though the cast is enough to make us excited, the trailer left us a little disappointed. This preview was just filled with too many cliches and not enough shirtless James Franco. How many times to female-targeted films have to imply that eating food is a dirty indulgence and fitting into a too-small pair of jeans is, like, the funniest thing ever? It's like the film cribbed Joy Behar's 1987 comedy routine for the "funny/relatable" moments. And don't get us started on the "magical brown person" opening scene.
Still, even with all the cliches, women are going to go see this movie. Maybe the makers of the film just figured that they didn't have to try that hard with the preview since almost every woman between the ages of 18 and 55 will be lining up to see this movie on opening day anyways?
Watch the trailer below.
The film is expected to be released in August of this year.
