'Dreamgirls' Director to Helm Breaking Dawn, Because That Makes Perfect Sense

Is Summit Entertainment taking a radical left turn and turning the final Twilight installment into a musical? Director Bill Condon, who lensed the big-screen sing-alongs Dreamgirls and Chicago, has reportedly been offered the directing gig for Breaking Dawn, the last installment of the vampire movie saga. Condon is said to be in negotiations to accept the gig.

Condon reportedly beat out Sofia Coppola, M. Night Shyamalan, Stephen Daldry and Gus Van Sant for the movie, which will begin filming in November and, as many predicted, will reportedly be broken up into two flicks.

Can't wait to see what kind of big musical number they come up with for the birth scene...

Do you think Condon is a good fit for Breaking Dawn—if the rumor is actually true? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

For Christ's sake people. You amaze me at how dumb talk-backers can be. Condon is a talented director and Oscar winning screenwriter. He has directed non-musical movies before. He is capable of elevating the material and doing it justice. Summit is smart to have a talented and visionary director helm the final two Twilight films. They will NOT be musicals, so stop your whimpering.

i think that making it in to a musical is a really bad idea. the cast was doing really good as it is the directer doesn't have to make any changes.

I think he's a great choice. They need someone of that caliber to tackle the most controversial book of the series.
