Grace Jones Says Lady GaGa Is Copying Her Style In The Fiercest Feud Of The Century
Before there was Lady GaGa, there was Grace Jones, the first lady of fierceness that all future fierce celebrities must win the approval of in order to get inducted into the Hall of Awesome. Unfortunately for GaGa, Grace isn’t a fan, and she thinks GaGa is copying her style.
GaGa has long-cited Grace as an inspiration, which makes sense since Grace was well-known for being a club diva who had an outrageous aesthetic. Grace, however, feels that GaGa is being a little too literal in sourcing her “inspiration” from GaGa.
Grace revealed that GaGa had asked her to record a duet but Grace snubbed the request. From Starpulse:
Yes, she did (ask about a duet), but I said no. I’d just prefer to work with someone who is more original and someone who is not copying me, actually. Well, you know, I’ve seen some things she’s worn that I’ve worn, and that does kind of p**s me off. I wouldn’t go to see her.
Grace is known for her abrasive personality (she famously slapped a British talk show host for daring to talk to other guests) but she might want to avoid publicly dissing the new torch-bearers of fierceness, even if they look like they are copying her style. After all, Madonna sailed back to relevancy by kissing up to Britney Spears, so maybe Grace should do the same.
