Kristen Stewart And Carey Mulligan Battle It Out For A Movie Role

Kristen Stewart And Carey Mulligan Battle It Out For A Movie Role-photo

Uh oh, we smell some outrage brewing.

Oscar-nominated actress (and Shia LaBeouf's girlfriend) Carey Mulligan has reportedly snagged the lead role for the American movie adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from none other than Kristen Stewart.

Kristen and Carey were both being considered for the lead role of Lisbeth Salander, a punk-y bisexual computer hacker, but it appears that Carey has won the coveted role.

The movie will be based on a critically acclaimed and popular book series and insiders are predicating that the film could be a big deal in America. The film has already been made into a film in Sweden and has earned favorable reviews.

Meanwhile, some KStew fans have already launched into outrage mode, lamenting the fact that pixie-ish Carey won the role over punk-ish Kristen.

While Carey does have Oscar clout behind her to land choice roles, Kristen might have been a good choice for the role. However, Kristen might have been unable to take the role with her busy filming schedule: she is still finishing up Breaking Dawn and has three other films she is working on.

Do you think Carey is a good choice for the role or do you want Kristen to get the role? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Kristen would have been perfect as she suits the character well, and Im no Twi-Hard. She would bring authenticity to this role.

Kristen without a doubt (and I'm NOT a Twilight fan whatsoever). I love that dress she has on too, she looks stunning!

Sorry, K. Strewart is so not talented...whoever said the same facial experession....she looks like she thinks she is God's gift to the entertainment world...if she had not gotten Twi films she would still be an unknown...she can't act!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neither one will do the part as Lisbeth better then Noomi did. The swedish version will always be better because of Noomi's outstanding acting. But if it has to be done "Hollywood-style" I'd rather see Kristen then Carey.

Can't you just watch the Swedish movies? I don't understand this remake-obsession. Noomi Rapace is perfect as Lisbeth Salander. You don't need anyone else!

For anyone who's actually read the books...I mean COME ON?!?! The role requires a tough personality. The character is portrayed as definately not sweet and icky like Mulligan. Kristen would've been a perfect choice. But anyway, the Sweden version will always be there first at which they did an amazing job at, so don't really care that Carey got it now.

nahhhh!! gooooo Carey!! i like kristen but i only think she is gud to play the role of a vampire or Bella!! I think she is good at other parts too but Twilight wasn't the best. She was really good in the Runaways and I think she will be a better choice to play Lisbeth than Carey. Both of them are great actress but no one will be as good as Noomi was, she is the only Lisbeth and you can deny it when you she the movie and have read the book. After seeing Kristen in the Runaways I think she will be a better choice.

Kristen Stewart should definitely do it. Kristen Stewart won the BAFTA award for Best Rising Star against Carrie Mulligan - SO obviously she is better. Of course, it is so obvious that winning an award voted by the public makes you better than being nominated for and winning an award voted on by people in the industry. Cause we all know twi-hards have excellent taste and know much more about quality filmmaking than people who actually make films.

i would go with kristen after watching her in the runaways. she has the bad ass look going for her. Cary on the other hand, Looks like a dorky boy. if they didn't pick kristen the should of picked someone else like mila kunis.

Good, that book was amazing and I don't want to see K.S. ruin another great story. I agree that the original movie is great, no need to re-make it, but C.M. is amazing. Hopefully she'll do the character justice.

Thrilled Carey got it over KS. I think Carey is a real chameleon and will blow everyone away. KS just doesn't impress me, her personal tics show up too much in all of her roles. Did you not see Kristen in the Runaways...........she totally transformed into Joan .............she would be great

[quote=Eric Matthew Turbett]They are both talented actresses. I have never seen this older film that you all are talking about but whoever is chosen have gotten where they are because of who they are, how they are, and a little bit of luck comes into play also. The most famous actors and actresses have said this phrase in their own little way over and over and over." With every film I do I want a challenge and to stay out of my comfort zone" From the first film that they do they have a fear inside them kind of like how do i become this person. Couple films go by that this actor does and they start to become comfortable. Then from there all actors want a challenge, something that they can surpise themselves with. My point is that Carey could surprise us all and Kristen could over do it, and maybe be able to only play one kind of part. Or Kristen could do this film perfectly, and carey can stay in her safe box that she is used too and the film could bomb and never let her career blossom. All great actors can do any part, does't matter what films they have portrayed in the past, All great actors can play any part. This "older" films aren't old at all. I think it's from 2009 and It has just been released In the Us, read the books and watch the movie you will see that It's a pretty hard role to make, but Noomi did a prefect job as Lisbeth and no one will be available to master her level in that movie. If there is someone that can be good at the role is Kristen, even thou I like her and all I didn't think so at first but after seeing the Runaways were she plays Joan Jett I think so. However, she won't be anywhere near as good as Noomi was, but she will be one of the closets.

i wish they stopped recycling the old faces 3 times a year... i'll say, neither is good, both too young and cute but, of course kristen acts and looks like average programmer girl in every film she makes, so her lack of acting skills wouldn't even be a problem, what of mulligan, i couldn't really judge her by her only big role

Both of them are bad choices for the role, but Carey is the worser of the two since she can actually act. I think Ellen Page or Mila Kunis or an unknown would be the best fit.

puh-lease! What other 3 films??? Besides the twi fim she has nothing! K-11...she'll definetely not do, now that her mother dropped out of it or actually, was kicked out of it&IF she'll do American girl, it'll be in the Summer, before BD, as James Wiids himself said!! Face it people, studio&the director oh Millenium (who has worked with Kristen in the past btw) prefered Carey!! Can you blame them?? the girl is super talented!! ur so stupid. it wasn't her mom it was nikki reed who left the project. kristen's mom wrote k-11 and is directing it... how could she get kicked off her own project. besides that she has BD and i think a film called An American Girl. She's really taleted in my opinion and this not a twi hard speaking.. i've loved kstew since way before twilight. i think that kristen had the look for the film but maybe they already had a date and didn't want to hire kstew cuz of her commitments pushing this film back.

Love Kristen but I don't want any of them to play Lisbeth. No one will do it as good as Noomi did, the movie will suck. They should be doing a remake; the movie is fine as it is so keep it that way. Compared to Kristen and Carey I think Kristen will be the best choice, didn't think so when I first heard that she was going to play Lisbeth but after seeing her as Joan I think she will be one of the best choices, maybe not even half as good as Noomi but she will still be the best. Keep the original and just because some people are to lazy to read the text they should be doing a remake, it wont be any wear near as good as the original in any way. Believe me, this are the only Swedish movies I like (I am from Sweden) and they are my favourite movies if all time. i agree so much with you.........im not from sweden but i really like the movies and now i can only see noomi as lisbeth and no-one else....i dont even get why they have have to make a remake...thats what subtitles are for........im thinking i wont even see the remake when it comes out...i'll stick to the original cause it's amazing.........

OK Haters I trully belive that Kstew did not take it due to schedule conflicts. AFter seeing the runaways she was the best choice. I don't dislike Carey but she does not have that punk range. tooo bad I won't be seeing this one, Carey is kind of boring.

First of all: I don't even think that the movie should be made. Why remake a movie that is already absolutely perfect as it is? The only reason they want to remake it, is because the American movie/tv-world can't stand it when a movie is big, and is it NOT American or in English. Second: Carey couldn't do the part. The one closet to Noomi Rapace (Lisbeth Salander) has to be Kristen Stewart. I think that maybe Evan Rachel Wood could do the part as well though...

OMG, I wish Kristen's fans would finally realise that there MIGHT be more talented actresses out there, that win roles over her! It's quite normal you know...and it's freakin Carey Mulligan, of course he got the part over KStew!!

I'm sorry but I don't think neither of then could fit in the character of Lisbeth, because Carey has a baby-face and looks saint (and dork), well and Kristen...her characters always have the same expression!
