Dennis Hopper Laid To Rest In New Mexico
Legendary actor and filmmaker Dennis Hopper was laid to rest in Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico on Wednesday. Celebrity friends such as Jack Nicholson and Val Kilmer attended the memorial mass followed by a private burial.
Hopper died on Saturday at the age of 74 after battling prostate cancer for a year.
The memorial service took place a small chapel where his son, Henry Lee Hopper read from Walt Whitman‘s Leaves of Grass.
Nicholson remembered Hopper as his “soul mate” and “an all-around guy.” Nicholson was cast opposite Hopper in the counterculture classic Easy Rider.
After the service, Hopper’s simple wood coffin was taken away in a funeral procession that included about half a dozen motorcycles.
Hopper starred in such Hollywood classics as Easy Rider, Rebel without a Cause, Apocalypse Now, and Blue Velvet.
