Zac Efron Puts the Brakes on GF Vanessa Hudgens’ Movie-Star Dreams
In the rush to the big screen, Efron has shoved aside his lady-love Hudgens and beat her to the punch. Or, at least, the powers-that-be have done the shoving for him.
CBS Films, producers of Hudgens’ Beauty and the Beast re-imagining Beastly, have pushed the movie’s release date back nearly eight months, from July 30 all the way to March 18, 2011. Why? Because July 30 also happens to be the release date of Efron’s upcoming film, Charlie St. Cloud.
Ouch! But why shove Beastly all the way back to next March? According to CBS Films distribution head Steven Friedlander,
“There wasn’t much left in the summer that we could move it to, we didn’t want to go in fall, and the holidays are for four-quadrant movies (aka, movies thought to be attractive to parents, children, men and women alike). So we figured if we went to March, we’d have some school breaks happening around that time.”
What, is he saying that Beastly has limited appeal? Poor Vanessa. We can only hope she manages to keep herself busy in the meantime. Bandslam sequel, anyone?
