Al Gore Did Not Have Sex With Larry David's Wife
Well, this would have been a bit of awkwardness worthy of Curb Your Enthusiasm. If only it had been true.
In the wake of Al Gore's split with wife Tipper earlier this month, a tabloid report surfaced claiming that the former Vice President had been carrying on an affair with Laurie David, former wife of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm honcho Larry David. As the scuttlebutt had it, Gore and David—who split from her hubby in 2007—had been seeing each other for two years, presumably leading to the Gores' marital dissolution.
A pretty juicy allegation—and, as it turns out, too juicy to be real. Responding to the rumors, David—who knows Al and Tipper through her global-warming activism—spoke to the Huffington Post to thoroughly deny the affair:
"It's a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce."
Meanwhile, a source close to the Gores adds,
"Al and Tipper are still very close and spending together time this summer with their family."
Wow; that shouldn't be awkward at all.
It's kind of a shame that the Gore-David affair rumor isn't true; you just know that Kenneth Starr was getting all excited, thinking that he might finally have another high-profile gig on his hands.
