Wonder Woman Finally Puts Some Clothes On
In an age when seemingly everyone is over the whole "wearing pants" thing, leave it to the ever-rebellious Wonder Woman to buck the trend and finally put some pants on.
The iconic superheroine has been given a massive makeover to coincide with her 600th issue (out today), and it's quite the dramatic departure for comic-book fans to absorb. Gone are the star-spangled short-shorts. In their place, a much more sensible costume that she could easily wear to business meetings between crime-fighting sprees.
According to new Wonder Woman writer J. Michael Straczynski,
"It's a look designed to be taken seriously as a warrior, in partial answer to the many female fans over the years who've asked, "How does she fight in that thing without all her parts falling out?" She can close it up to pass unnoticed...open it for the freedom to fight...lose the jacket or keep it on...it can be accessorized...it's a Wonder Woman look designed for the 21st century."
Three cheers for progress. We suppose.
