Muse Admits That They Sold Their Souls by Appearing on ‘Twilight’ Soundtracks

Apparently, expressing gratitude isn't big on Muse's list of priorities.

The British band, who have contributed to all three of the soundtracks for the Twilight vampire movie series, have apparently lost their own souls, after providing the musical soundtrack for soulless-but-beautiful creatures of the night for so long.

At least, that's how the band's bass player, Chris Wolstenholme, sees things. During a recent interview with the BBC, Wolstenholme admitted,

"I'm not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things but sometimes you've just got to get your music out there in different ways...It's very difficult in America because you don't have anything like Radio 1, nothing is national...You have to take every opportunity you get over there and sometimes you have to sell your soul."

Oh, and as for his opinion of the movies themselves? The bassist says that he watched 2008's Twilight, but hasn't bothered with the two sequels because they're not his "cup of tea."

Ouch! Vampires might not be Wolstenholme's bag, but obviously he's a master of biting criticism.

So...y'think they'll be invited back for the Breaking Dawn soundtrack? Share your predictions in the comments section.

I absolutely agree - too bad they made so much money on Twilight now they think they are too cool - they are obnoxious-hurt them in the pocketbook OH NOES, THEY'RE STATING THEIR OWN NEGATIVE OPINION ON THE BOOKS IN A POLITE MANNER! ATTAAAAACK! Oh please. They were famous long before Twish*te was born. As a Muse fan, I would know. Admitting that they don't really like it isn't going to hurt their pockets. The only reason you and all the other Twilight Fans are upset about this because you treat all slightly negative opinions on the series like it's a personal attack, as the majority of you crazies all see yourselves as Bella, or like Bella in some way. It's a book. Get. Over. It.

Muse was big in the states before that Twilight sh*te, so Twilight fans need to stop thinking that Twilight was their ace in the hole. No love lost, no money lost. It's not hurting their wallets.

I agree that musicsions are entitled to their own taste - but when their band has been singled out as one of the inspirations for the books, I have to jump on the manners bandwagon. I like Muse, I like the Twilight series, I'm hugely disappointed that Wolstenholme was so rude, no matter how good of a musician or what the point of view is, being rude in no way endears me to their music before or after they supposedly sold out. Twilight fans always misconstrue's the point and make something bigger than it already is. Muse already had fans in the states.

Good for them! Muse shouldn't have to force themselves to pretend they're alright with the sh*ttiest book series in the universe just to appease the brainless Twihards. I feel sorry for them, having made the mistake of getting involved with Smeyer. They owe nothing to that narcissistic wannabe or her amateur books[read - wet dream on paper].

Isn't Stephenie Meyers a huge Muse fan? Didn't she say some of the Twilight Saga storyline was inspired by their songs? If I'm remembering right, that's a very sh*tty way to thank (or indirectly insult) someone that has propelled this band's career a little farther. Sell your soul? How melodramatic. Buy some manners with the royalty money you're earning from the sale of those soundtracks, the iTunes downloads, and the ringtones. Unappreciative? He actually says nothing bad about Smeyers in the slightest. Do you really expect a 32 year old British dad of four to be into Twilight? Tbh all Twilight's done is introduced a few million fan girls to what is debatedly some of their worst material, so whatever. The ones who actually look into Muse's discography are a gain but I'm pretty sure the offended thirteen year olds aren't going out and buying their albums and paying to see their arena shows, generally.

Well, when I met the guys from Muse they were all very gracious and appreciative of their fans. It was before the twilight phenomenon, but I would think that they are probably the same since they were huge in other countries at the time. Personally, I appreciate his honesty in the matter. I'd be willing to bet that most bands that appear on soundtracks aren't always fans of the movies or basis for the films either. They are entitled to their own taste.

I wonder if Muse's other band members feel that way? If so, they shouldn't be asked or participate on any of Breaking Dawn's soundtracks.

I don't see it as a diss to Stephanie Meyers. The books aren't too bad, but the movies are atrocious. He has every right to dislike them; Stephanie didnt make the movies anyway. I completely agree.
