Amy Adams to Play Janis Joplin in Biopic

Amy Adams better start practicing her vocals.

The Sunshine Cleaning actress has reportedly been confirmed for the title role in the upcoming Janis Joplin biopic Janis Joplin: Get it While You Can. The film will be directed by City of God’s Fernando Meirelles.

Though Adams is apparently locked in for the part, other details about the project are less certain. The film has yet to secure a studio, and the script has been subjected to numerous drafts. And this latest film comes on the heels of several failed efforts to tell the life story of the ill-fated 1960s belter, who died of a heroin overdose in 1970 at the age of 27. In the past, Zooey Deschanel, P!nk and Vanessa Hudgens have expressed interest in playing the role.

What do you think? Will Adams make a convincing Joplin? Share your predictions in the comments section.
