Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones Face Off for Elizabeth Taylor Role
It’s a battle of the leading ladies!
According to reports, Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones are both in contention to play movie legend Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming biopic about Taylor’s marriage to Richard Burton. The movie, to be directed by Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Catch-22), will be based on the Sam Kashner/Nancy Schroenberger biography Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century.
Though both actresses have reportedly expressed interest in the role, Jolie might have a slight edge: The Salt actress recently landed the part of Cleopatra, perhaps Taylor’s most famous role.
As for the role of Burton—who died in 1984 of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 58—producers are said to be eyeing Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell as possibilities.
Who do you think should land the role of Elizabeth Taylor—Angelina or Catherine? Somebody else, maybe? Let us know in the comments section.
