Miley Cyrus Takes Britney Spears Comparison as a Compliment
Katy Perry may think that Miley Cyrus is heading down the same path that led to Britney Spears' breakdown, but the Disney pop star who's been adding some edge to her image lately says she takes Miss Perry's comparison as a positive.
While doing press for the final season of Hannah Montana, the "Can't Be Tamed" singer addressed Katy's comment and said that she prefers to look at it as a compliment:
I try to look at everything in my life as positive. So I can either look at it and say it’s negative, and look at the things she’s done wrong, and say, ‘How can someone compare me to her?’
Or, I could be the positive person and look at all the amazing history that she’s made, and the things that she’s accomplished
Britney has indeed accomplished a lot in her career, and rebounded quite successfully from her tough times. She made the transition from teen idol to international megastar, she has consistently put out catchy #1 tunes, and recently topped the list of Forbes wealthiest musicians of 2010. She's also the top-selling female artist of the last decade, a feat that Miley would very likely love to have over the next 10 years.
As the 17-year-old Miley prepares to transition towards the adult pop market, there surely are lessons to be learned from the ebbs and flows of Britney's successful career. Considering that Miley gave Britney a shout out in her 2009 megahit "Party in the USA," it's clear she's got the 'Toxic' queen on her mind.
Do you take Katy's Britney comparison as a compliment or a diss?
