Miley Cyrus Takes Britney Spears Comparison as a Compliment

Miley Cyrus Takes Britney Spears Comparison as a Compliment-photo

Katy Perry may think that Miley Cyrus is heading down the same path that led to Britney Spears' breakdown, but the Disney pop star who's been adding some edge to her image lately says she takes Miss Perry's comparison as a positive.

While doing press for the final season of Hannah Montana, the "Can't Be Tamed" singer addressed Katy's comment and said that she prefers to look at it as a compliment:

I try to look at everything in my life as positive. So I can either look at it and say it’s negative, and look at the things she’s done wrong, and say, ‘How can someone compare me to her?’

Or, I could be the positive person and look at all the amazing history that she’s made, and the things that she’s accomplished

Britney has indeed accomplished a lot in her career, and rebounded quite successfully from her tough times. She made the transition from teen idol to international megastar, she has consistently put out catchy #1 tunes, and recently topped the list of Forbes wealthiest musicians of 2010. She's also the top-selling female artist of the last decade, a feat that Miley would very likely love to have over the next 10 years.

As the 17-year-old Miley prepares to transition towards the adult pop market, there surely are lessons to be learned from the ebbs and flows of Britney's successful career. Considering that Miley gave Britney a shout out in her 2009 megahit "Party in the USA," it's clear she's got the 'Toxic' queen on her mind.

Do you take Katy's Britney comparison as a compliment or a diss?

You know, Miley is handling all the celebrity/paparazzi stuff really well, And she is right! Britney Spears is the Princess of pop or something and it's an honor to be compared to her... you SHOULD look at the positive instead of the negative

I think Miley has been handeling criticism and rumors very well lately. Its better to ignore it and think the positive. For her being compared to Britney is a good thing. Even though they are different people, its a good way for Miley to see the possiblities what could happen if she did certain things. It's always best to learn from others mistakes and make decisions on how to live life. For Miley, she can see how Britney started working as a singer till now. Of course, Britney has gone through many obstacles but she dealt with them and has made her a stronger person she is today. So with that being told, Miley can learn a lot from Britney then take matters into her own hands and decide which path to go down. I'm a fan of Miley and I know she is bound to make mistakes, which is part of growing up. She is a really good singer and all we can do is wait to see which path she chooses.

Good for Miley. No one really knows what kind of path she's heading down, but she could very well turn out like Lindsay Lohan. If you asked her at 17 I don't think she'd be like "oh yeah, in a few years I'm going to be an addict and go to jail." All we can do is wait and see. But Miley does seem to be on the fence of that very same path. We don't know Miley, all we know is what we see and what is portrayed in the media - and I can see something like that happening. And I mean, she could turn out like Britney too! There is no way to know so people shouldn't focus on it.

For gods sake, anyone who comes up with a nasty comment for this article is just a peice of sh*t. Miley didn't say anything wrong, I'm gonna be one to admit that as much as I love Miley, she has made mistakes...who cares? Plus Britany may have had problems in the past but shes really changed, I can't say that comparing the two of them makes sense, but I can see why they were compared.

"Miley gave Britney a shout out" uh, no- whoever wrote the song gave britney a shout out, haha. remember that tragic interview where miley said she didn't write the song by way of admitting she'd never heard a jay-z song?
