Zac Efron Gets 'Lucky' on the Big Screen
Brace yourselves, Zac Efron fans; your favorite actor is going to war.
The former High School Musical heartthrob has reportedly signed on to play the lead role in the adaptation of the Nicolas Sparks novel The Lucky One. Efron will play a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his luck to a picture he carried with him of an unknown woman, who he tries to track down when he returns home.
Several of Sparks' novels have been adapted for the big screen, including The Last Song, which starred Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.
Efron is also said to be in negotiations to star as the ne'er-do-well son of a big-shot New York attorney in the gritty drama Die in a Gun Fight, described as "a [Quentin] Tarantino-esque blend of Gossip Girl, True Romance and Romeo and Juliet."
The 22-year-old actor can be seen next in Charlie St. Cloud, about a grief-stricken young man who communicates with the ghost of his little brother. Clearly, Efron isn't content to do the same old song and dance anymore.
