Penelope Cruz: You Don't Have To Be Thin To Be Pretty

Penelope Cruz: You Don't Have To Be Thin To Be Pretty-photo

Penelope Cruz may have a body that is admired by every man and woman in the world, but that doesn't mean she wants young women to get the wrong idea about achieving her svelte figure.

In an interview with You magazine (via Hollyscoop), Penelope voices her concern over magazines that promote dieting to young women:

I would close down all those teenage magazines that encourage young girls to diet. Who says that to be pretty you have to be thin?

Some people look better thin and some don’t. There is almost a standard being created where only thin is acceptable. The influence of those magazines on girls as young as 13 is horrific.

The stunning 36-year-old actress, who recently married fellow Spanish actor Javier Bardem, has long played down the focus on her looks. Penelope has admitted to eating In-N-Out burgers once a week and has previously said that she liked the way she looked with a little extra weight.

Penelope is currently busy filming scenes for the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and you can see photos of her on set here!

This would resonate more coming from someone who isn't rail thin. She's saying that dieting to be thin and pretty is wrong. She isn't saying you should give up trying to be HEALTHY, exercising and mostly eating right with the occasional indulgement. Just because she's skinny for genetics and exercise doesn't mean it isn't true.
