Katy Perry Disses Ex Travis McCoy In New Song
Teen Choice Awards host Katy Perry and her ex, former Gym Class Heroes singer Travis McCoy, both performed at the fan-voted honors last night – but based on a new track on Katy’s album – things may be a little awkward between the two ex-lovebirds.
In yet another magazine cover story, Katy tells Billboard magazine that “Circle in the Drain” is her version of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” – but instead of Dave Coulier, Katy unloads on McCoy, whom she dated on and off in 2008 before cozying up to fiance Russell Brand.
The lyrics pretty much speak for themselves:
You think you’re so rock and roll/ But you’re really just a joke/ Had the world in the palm of your hand/ But you [bleep]ing choked.
Katy’s talking about Travis’ admitted addiction to prescription drugs, which sent him to rehab in 2008.
Thought I was the exception/ I could rewrite your addiction/ You could have been the greatest/ But you’d rather get wasted/ You fall asleep during foreplay/ ‘Cause the pills you take are more your forté/ I’m not sticking around to watch you go down/ Wanna be your lover/ Not your [bleep]ing mother.
Here’s hoping Russell – a former heroin addict – doesn’t inspire another of these sad ditties. What do you think of Katy’s trash-talking tune? Let us know in the comments, and check out a ‘Drain’ preview below.
