Did Emma Watson Cut Her Hair For ‘Tattoo’ Role?

By: / August 10, 2010

Harry Potter beauty Emma Watson may have chopped off her long locks for a chance to win the leading role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

While Emma had explained that she cut off her hair because she “missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through” she did mention that she cut off her hair once she “had the chance,” and what better chance is there to get a pixie cut than the possibility of winning a coveted movie role?

A movie insider tells The Sun that the 20-year-old cut her hair for her audition:

Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part. The character of Lisbeth is a misfit goth-type girl with spikey hair.

Emma has some fierce competition for the role. Actresses Kristen Stewart and Carey Mulligan are reportedly fighting to play Lisbeth. Whether Emma’s hair dedication will put her ahead of the pack is to be determined.

The role of Lisbeth will be spread accross three films to follow the crime book trilogy written by Stieg Larsson. Considering that the books have been insanely popular all over the world, the role of Lisabeth would likely catapult whoever the lead actress is into superstardom.

So far, only Daniel Craig has been publicly confirmed for the film.

Do you think Emma should get the role? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and check out the original trailer for the Swedish version of the movie, starring Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth.
