Joseph Gordon-Levitt is getting in touch with his musical side. And, apparently, his feminine side.

The Inception actor took time out from filming his upcoming movie Premium Rush on Monday to lend his talents to HitRECord's Summer in the City concert at Pianos in New York. (HitRECord is "a professional open collaborative production company" launched by Gordon-Levitt five years ago.)

Levitt's choice of song for the event? The 1967 Aretha Franklin chestnut "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." And judging from his impassioned rendition, JGL really was feeling it.

Check out video of Gordon-Levitt's startling musical confession below:

And, for comparison, Franklin performing the song in 1967:

Do you think JGL did the song justice? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

i am sure King and Goffin get the credit that is due. But let's be serious, singers get all the credit. They sing the songs on the radio and give it the emotions hat the writers put on the page. And I am sure songwriters know that. That is why they are songwriters. Not everyone can sing or write a song. it takes a special person to do either, and a very specia person to do both

Carole King and Gerry Goffin will be surprised to find out that the song they wrote is Aretha Franklin's. Just because Aretha's version was a hit, doesn't make it hers. You could just as well say it is a Mary J. Blige song. Anyone can sing a song, not just anyone can create one.
