Rooney Mara: The Next Angelina Jolie?
Now that Rooney Mara is the The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, she's inspiring comparisons to a pretty major movie star.
“I worked with Angelina Jolie 13 years ago, before she was famous, and Mara reminded me of the same thing,” Samuel Bayer, who directed Rooney in A Nightmare on Elm Street, told the New York Daily News.
The 25-year-old beauty landed the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander in the Hollywood adaptation of the Stieg Larsson best-seller, beating out reported contenders like Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Ellen Page. David Fincher is set to direct.
Miguel Arteta, who directed Mara in last year’s comedy Youth in Revolt, seconds Bayer's adoration, telling the Daily News: “I had no doubt that she’d become a movie star... I was just happy to get her for a small role on the way up.”
Rooney will also appear in the so-called "Facebook movie," The Social Network.
Her impending superstardom from the Tattoo role will surely be an adjustment for Mara, but being a high-profile figure seems to run in her blood. Rooney's grandfather, the late Wellington Mara, founded and owned the New York Giants. Her sister, Kate, is also an actress who has appeared in Brokeback Mountain and the TV show Entourage.

Aren't you kind of contradicting yourself when you say they need an actress who can act...like Kristen Stewart? And are we really so boring as a society that we have to make comparisons between actresses like this? Why does every new actress have to be "the next Angelina Jolie!?!?!" Jesus. What happened to originality? no i am not contradicting myself. kristen is a great actor. have you seen her other movies besides twilight? she is amazing.

oh and yeah to answer the article question: hell no rooney mara will be the next angelina jolie. she does not have that mass appeal to me and angelina does and definitely not the somehow captivating beauty (at least did, no she looks eh)
i was so mad when i saw who they casted as the lead in "girl with a dragon tattoo". the girl can't act. you need an actress with swagger and badassery written all over her, and she's not it. kristen stewart would have been perfect but stupid summit had to start filming Breaking Dawn around the same time as "girl with a dragon tattoo"
