Steven Tyler Confirmed as 'American Idol' Judge
Walk this way, Steven Tyler—right toward the American Idol judges' table.
Though Fox has yet to issue an official announcement, E! Online has confirmed that Aerosmith singer Tyler has completed negotiations to join the panel of American Idol judges when the show returns for its next season.
It's still uncertain whether another contender, Jennifer Lopez, will be signing on. According to a source, J.Lo hasn't exactly endeared herself to the Idol brass with her list of demands—which reportedly include a $20 million salary, along with her own hair, makeup and styling team, plus a "dressing room compound," whatever that is.
The powers that be at Idol—which include returning executive producer Nigel Lythgoe—still have two more judges' slots to fill. In addition to Simon Cowell's departure earlier this year (he'll be launching the American version of his British hit The X Factor next year), in recent weeks Ellen DeGeneres resigned from the show, and Kara DioGuardi was relieved of her duties.
