Demi Lovato Slams Twitter … on Twitter

By: / August 23, 2010

Shortly after becoming a trending topic on Twitter, teen superstar Demi Lovato started rallying against the site and other social media platforms, claiming they ruin young people’s lives.

For her 18th birthday on August 20, Demi became a trending topic on Twitter, and two days later, she ranted on her Twitter:

Sometimes the internet can be so frustrating you wonder why you allow it in your life at all…It’s just really sad how addicted to social networking we are. The start age is getting younger and younger…How many of you would choose reading a book over twitter?

Demi also retweeted a fan’s statement that complained about how much the internet “wastes so much precious time you could be spending elsewhere.”

It isn’t really clear what sparked Demi’s sudden change of heart about Twitter. The Sonny with a Chance star has over two million Twitter followers and she will often tweet at least once a day.
