Today in Speidi News: Sex Tapes, Intrigue and Conspiracy
Doing their best to prevent Monday from being a slow news day, reality TV's most reviled couple are dominating the headlines with a series of reports ranging from the shocking to the bewildering.
National Speidi Day began with the revelation (via TMZ) that, in addition to the alleged sex tape of himself and his ex-wife-to-be that Pratt has been hawking, there's also footage of Montag getting it on with former Girls Next Door girl Karissa Shannon. And, yep, he's shopping that one, too, with Vivid Entertainment—the same adult video company said to be interested in the Speidi sex tape—as a possible buyer.
Pratt reportedly discovered the Montag/Shannon tape while moving some of his belongings out of the estranged couple's Malibu, California, home. While Shannon confirms the existence of such a tape, she's doubtful that Pratt is in possession of it—but if he is, Shannon adds, she'll be suing if he makes it public.
Shortly after that revelation, the plot thickened, when the former couple and presumed current enemies were spotted and captured on video in a Costa Rica resort, suggesting that Pratt and Montag might, once again, be in cahoots with each other and pulling a fast one for media exposure. In the video, Pratt and Montag are initially seen in close proximity to each other and on apparently friendly terms, but they scatter in opposite directions once they see the camera on them. (Check out the incriminating video evidence here.)
Naturally, there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for all of this. Or, at least, Pratt's idea of a perfectly reasonable explanation. Contacted by People magazine, Pratt revealed that he had merely followed Montag to Costa Rica—where she's apparently decided to lay low for a while—to give her the couple's pet dogs. Oh, and to engage in a little blackmail against his estranged wife:
"I told Heidi … if you don't want to do the new reality show with me, then I'll have to release old footage. I can get $5 million from a sex tape, but I really don't want to do that. It's not the way I want things to be. Heidi is furious with me but I need to look out for myself."
For her part, Montag maintains that she initially invited her former spouse to join her in Costa Rica, only to be reminded, shockingly, that she had married a double-crossing rat:
"We were really getting along and it was amazing he was being so thoughtful to help me move. Then things turned."
If Heidi's Twitter feed is to be believed—and sure, why not?—she truly has had a change of heart about her former love in the last day or so, tweeting "FU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" to Pratt yesterday and "You were right, Spencer is soooooooooo sucky!!" to her former Hills castmate Lauren Conrad shortly thereafter.
Of course, there's no way that this could all be an elaborate publicity stunt. Right?
Either way, at least they're keeping things entertaining. Can't wait to see what they have in store for the world tomorrow.
