Search of the Week: Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is a musical prodigy, sure. We all know this. Her VMA acceptance speech was ganked by Kanye West, okay. But did you know Taylor won a national poetry contest in the 4th grade?
It wasn’t always a given that Taylor would live to entertain millions. She went to Nashville at age 11 with a demo tape and the hope that she would be discovered, but was rejected by every label and forced to return to Pennsylvania, dreams nearly dashed. Then, just three years later, her family decided to move to Nashville to allow her to pursue country music aspirations full time. In one year’s time, she signed with Big Machine Records, completed her self-titled debut album and made her way to the top the country music charts. Her second album, Fearless, garnered the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2008. The rest, including eclipsing the 10 million albums sold mark, is history.
Her third album Speak Now is set to debut on October 25, 2010, but her new single and music video have already been released. Check out Taylor’s new video “Mine,” paying special attention to on-screen beau Toby Hemingway — the pair are rumored to be a real-life couple!
