Kanye West Seeks Redemption on VMA Stage
Is it vindication … or just a way to sell more records? After his much-publicized Twitter mea culpa last week, Kanye West took to the VMA stage tonight to let the world know one thing: he’s a douchebag.
Taylor Swift’s performance of the song “Innocent,” written mostly about last year’s interruption fiasco, seemed to indicate she had moved on from the gaffe and was letting it go. And if Kanye’s performance is any indication, he’s moving on too.
Donning a sharp red suit and following an introduction by the hilarious Aziz Ansari, the singer debuted “Runaway” alongside ballerinas and electronic drums — and did his best to work out all the emotion of the last year and leave it right there on the VMA stage.
Singing “You’ve been putting up with my s*** for way too long… Let’s have a toast for the douchebags … Let’s have a toast for the a** holes… Baby, I’ve got a plan … Run away as fast as you can,” Kanye opened his soul for the world to see – flawed and all.

The crowd ate it up, chanting his name as they gave him a standing ovation. Was Taylor in the audience doing the same thing?
