Taylor Swift Sings To ‘Innocent’ Kanye at VMAs (VIDEO)

Taylor Swift proves she’s ever the lady … even after controversy. Tonight she unveiled a new song inspired by her incident with Kanye West at the 2009 VMAs. The song, titled “Still an Innocent,” takes pity on Kanye and proves that the young starlet has moved on from what happened last year.

The performance – like the song – was mellow and stripped down, featuring the 20-year-old singer sitting in a makeshift room. After a few moments of strumming her guitar, the country-pop singer moves away from the set and walks barefoot on an empty stage.

The sweet and moving performance establishes without a doubt that Taylor is far more grown up and forgiving than the public often gives her credit for.

The never-before-heard song is a single off of Taylor’s upcoming album, Speak Now. Read some of the key lyrics below:

It’s all right just wait and see
You’re string of lights are still bright to me, oh
Who you are is not what you did
You’re still an innocent

It’s okay, your life is a tough crowd
Thirty-two and still growing up now
Who you are is not what you did
You’re still an innocent

Time turns flames to ambers
You’ll have new Septembers
Everyone of us has messed up too
Minds change like the weather
I hope you’ll remember
Today is never too late
To be brand new
