Adam Lambert Comments on Pap Fight; Police Report Filed

Adam Lambert is dismissing his highly uncharacteristic scuffle with a paparazzo in Miami Beach yesterday as no big deal—but it remains to be seen whether the law agrees with him.

The American Idol fave, who was captured on film wrestling with a photographer while attempting to chill out on the beach, is sharing his side of the story via his Twitter account. In a series of tweets from last night and early this morning, the “Whattaya Want From Me” belter laments,

“Eeew paparazzi killed my peaceful afternoon on the beach! #howisthisok?…They’re real good at provoking, but there ain’t any pics or video of the b.s. they spew out… Haha well… I lost my temper for a sec but wow it felt great lol MIAMI!!!”

Ever gracious even in the aftermath of a meltdown, Lambert goes on to dispense kudos to the photographers who captured the heated exchange—while taking a dig at his own incognito style:

“Hahha the photos are hilarious !! Lol please everyone forgive me for that hat. – I was attempting a disguise- clearly failed. Hahah”

Lambert goes on to assert that he wasn’t attempting to harm the shutterbug—he just wanted to confiscate the film:

“Battery? Nope. I attempted to grab a camera, no punches were thrown and no one was on the ground…. It was literally harmless. If embarrassment is a crime- thats all I’m guilty of.”

Not surprisingly, the pap in question begs to differ. TMZ reports that the cameraman filed a report in a Miami Beach police station last night, accusing the singer of misdemeanor battery. The report claim that Lambert grabbed the snapper’s backpack “where the camera was placed” and “wrestled [the pap] to the ground forcefully.” (Photos from the incident, which depict the camera in the photographer’s hand, would seem to contradict his claim. Further, the police report indicates that the photographer didn’t sustain any “bruises or lacerations” during the altercation.)

It’s not yet known whether the police will turn the case over to the State’s Attorney for prosecution. If so, Lambert could face a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
