Lindsay Lohan Handcuffed, Taken to Jail
Lindsay Lohan was taken into custody and sent directly to jail after Judge Elden Fox denied her from posting bail following her recent failed drug tests. Lindsay was handcuffed before being taken to jail, and KTLA is reporting that she’ll remain in the same Lynwood jail she recently served at until her next probation hearing on October 22.
L.A. County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told KTLA that Lohan — who has a history of serving much less time than being sentenced — will indeed spend a full 30 days in jail for her latest infraction.
This comes as a surprise to many, as the speculation was that Friday’s hearing would be brief, and that it would mostly be comprised of Lohan posting bail and walking free for the time being.
The 24-year-old Lohan was back in court after failing two drug tests following her most recent jailing and rehab stint. She arrived at court sporting a white skirt with a conservative and paritally sheer black top and black high heels, as well as a pair of sunglasses.
Following the court hearing, Michael Lohan gave comments outside of the courthouse, blasting Lohan’s former lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley for being “responsible” for Lohan’s latest setback. When asked by a reporter why he was so angry, Lohan claimed: “My daughter’s in jail! I’d rather be in jail rather than my daughter.”
In recent years, Lindsay and her father Michael have gone through a very public dispute, causing Dina Lohan to seek to legally keep Michael away from her daughter.
Watch Lindsay’s arrival:
Lindsay tweeted last week after reports of her failed tests, saying that “substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day.”
TMZ reported both failed drug tests, including the details that in one Lindsay tested positive for cocaine, and that the other indicated use of amphetamines.
This latest legal woe for Lohan comes after a tumultuous summer for the Mean Girls starlet. She surrendered on July 20 after being sentenced for violating her probation stemming from a 2007 drunk driving case. Her 90 day sentence was cut short due to overcrowding and good behavior, and she served just 13 days in jail.
She then checked into UCLA Medical Center rehab facility for what was supposed to be 90 days, but was released after staying at the clinic for just 24 days.
Judge Elden Fox banned any cameras and phones from the courtroom, so unlike the last time when Lindsay was caught crying during the sentence, no visuals came from the courtroom this time around.
