Emma Stone: Hollywood’s New It Girl

Emma Stone is making a play for hottest actress in the Hollywood game, and it has little to do with her fiery mane.

Columbia Pictures announced this week that Stone, 21, nailed a coveted role in the upcoming Spiderman 4, playing Spidey’s first love Gwen Stacy opposite new hero Andrew Garfield. She’s also fresh off a star turn in the Scarlet Letter update Easy A and preparing to make her hosting debut on the Oct. 23 edition of Saturday Night Live.

What else is there to know about the lovely Emma? Read on for some fun facts.

For starters, Stone convinced her mom to move her from her native Scottsdale, Arizona to Los Angeles (after a persuasive slide show presentation set to Madonna’s “Hollywood”) in 2004. She landed a role on the Fox drama Drive in 2007. Catch a brief glimpse of her in the trailer below, at around the :15 mark:

Emma’s feature-film debut came as Jonah Hill’s super cool-crush Jules in the 2007 smash hit Superbad, which she dishes about below. It was then that producer Judd Apatow suggested Emma dye her naturally blonde hair red, a move that has clearly worked for her.

Emma sharpened her comedic chops with a role in the Rainn Wilson comedy The Rocker, in which she played a member in a high school band that plays a big gig (at the prom.) She also met singer Teddy Geiger during filming, which led to a reported romantic relationship back in 2008.

Stone really stepped into the spotlight when she starred in The House Bunny, playing nerd-turned-sorority girl Natalie:

Though not one to flaunt her relationships, Emma met recent boyfriend Kieran Culkin (little brother of Macaulay) when both starred in the 2010 indie film, Paper Man.

If Emma needs a friend on her climb up the Hollywood ladder, she has one in major country singer Taylor Swift, who’s been called one of her closest pals. Emma will likely need some advice on how to be a huge star after she appears in the upcoming movie adaptation of the bestseller The Help and possibly lands another mega-role – the lead in a reboot of 80’s TV classic, 21 Jump Street.
