James Franco Goes Drag for ‘Candy’

/ October 6, 2010

The talented James Franco has portrayed a legendary gay poet, Spider-Man’s ex BFF and now … a woman.

Yes, the Hollywood hunk has turned to drag, for the time being at least. The Milk star posed in drag for Candy magazine, complete with long leather gloves, fabulous costume jewelry and loads of make-up.

The photos, taken by celebrity photographer Terry Richardson, make Franco look like he just stepped out of a Patrick Nagel poster. Talk about ’80s realness!

According to the the magazine’s site, Candy is “the first fashion magazine ever completely dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny, in all its manifestations.”

The multi-talented star has battled questions about his sexuality in the past. In September, Franco told The Advocate that he wasn’t gay, even though he often portrays gay characters on the big screen:

Everyone thinks I’m a stoner, and some people think I’m gay because I’ve played these gay roles. That’s what people think, but it’s not true. I don’t smoke pot. I’m not gay…
