Christina Aguilera Confirms Separation Reports

/ October 12, 2010

UPDATE: In a statement obtained by Celebuzz, Christina Aguilera is confirming the news that she and husband Jordan Bratman are separated, saying: “Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever.”

Previously: Christina Aguilera and her husband Jordan Bratman have reportedly split, adding to what is already a dark week for celebrity marriages.

According to Us Magazine, the Burlesque star has been separated from Jordan “for a few months … They are now living apart,” a source tells the magazine, “and they will see how that goes.”

Celebuzz reached out to Aguilera’s reps, who told us they currently have no comment at this time.

So, what went wrong? The source says that the two felt that they were “more like friends than husband and wife” and a recent trip to Italy failed to rekindle the spark that allegedly went out in their relationship.

Though it’s not clear if it has anything to do with the marital troubles, the couple’s home is currently on the market for just shy of $6 million. >>> CLICK TO SEE PHOTOS

The couple met in 2002 when Jordan acted as a producer on one of Christina’s albums. The pop star and the music executive wed in 2005. In 2008, Christina gave birth to the couple’s only child, Max.

The news of the alleged split comes as a surprise to many particularly because the 29-year-old pop star often talked in detail about her marriage. Christina recently talked about her and Jordan’s “naked Sundays” and the importance of having “mommy and daddy time.”

Christina has never been one to be shy about her sexuality. Her first video off of her most recent album, Bionic, was steeped in sexual references. Check out the video for “Not Myself Tonight” below.

The news of Christina and Jordan’s split comes less than 24 hours after the announcement that Courteney Cox and David Arquette had decided to call it quits.
