Christina Aguilera Files for Divorce

Two days after Christina Aguilera’s rep told Celebuzz that she and Jordan Bratman were separating, TMZ reports that Aguilera has filed for divorce.

According to documents filed by the songbird today in Los Angeles, Aguilera cites the ever-popular “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution of her five-year marriage to Bratman. The papers also reveal that Christina, a superstar since age 16, had a prenup and is asking that her “earnings and accumulations before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation” be considered separate property.

Aguilera, who will star in the upcoming movie-musical Burlesque, also petitions for joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s 2-year-old son Max Liron and seeks to “terminate Bratman’s ability to get spousal support,” TMZ reported.

When reached by Celebuzz, a rep for Christina had no comment.

Aguilera’s filing lists the formal date of the couple’s separation at September 11, 2010.

Will we soon see a similar divorce filing from Courtney Cox and David Arquette? Only time will tell.
