Houston, we have a problem: Community is lost in space.
Tonight’s episode of the hit NBC comedy will take Joel McHale, Chevy Chase and the rest of the cast to where they have never gone before, space! Luckily, Celebuzz got a chance to chat with Community star Donald Glover before he is rocketed into space.
Read on to hear Donald talk about tonight’s sure-to-be-epic episode, what life is like on-set of one of the funniest TV shows and what spoilers lie ahead in the coming weeks.
If you don’t know who Donald is, he is pretty much living out every single 27-year-old comedy nerd’s dream: After graduating from NYU in 2006, Donald became a writer for 30 Rock before moving on to star in Community as the jock-ish Troy.
Donald says that the ides for tonight’s Apollo 13-themed episode came after they spent time trying to think up a way to top last season’s Justin Lin-directed “paintball episode.” Someone eventually suggested that they send the characters to space and next thing they knew they were prepping for a space-themed episode.

However, things aren’t all space-trips and meetings on set. Donald reveals that working with comedy veteran Chevy is sort of like “working with your funny, wisecracking grandpa.” One day Chevy told the cast and crew that he can’t check his email because his “email is in New York.” Apparently no one had taught Chevy about the joys of the internet.

Donald also shares some of the guest stars that he would like to see on the show: “Zach Galifianakis and Jesus, just so I could ask him some questions.”
As for season two spoilers, Donald reveals that a zombie-themed episode is in the works but he can’t reveal too much else about the new season since even he doesn’t know what to expect. “The script we have today,” Donald explained, “we didn’t even have the whole script.”
“It definitely keeps us on our toes.”
As for the possibility of a Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Troy romance? “I really don’t know,” said Donald, “I heard rumors…it’s a possibility.”
Tune it to Community tonight on NBC at 8/7c.
