MIA's Fashion Burka: Yay or Nay? (PHOTOS)

Most stars like to show off on the red carpet, but controversial singer M.I.A. took fashion risk-taking to a whole new level when she donned a colorful burka (emblazoned with her upcoming album cover!) on the red carpet at Spike TV's Scream 2010 Award.

The "Paper Planes" chanteuse hit the Los Angeles awards show in the body-covering burka (traditionally worn by devout Muslim women) with a print of her ///Y/ album cover on the front and the words "XO I Love You" printed on the bottom.

Was her look a breath of fresh air or offensively in-your-face? Check out more photos and play fashion critic in the poll below.

A Burka isn't a religious requirement, it's just the easiest and most popuar way of cover the whole body and face. It's not racist!

MIA is not racist. She's simply making a fashion statement and embracing other cultures (which she does a lot of with her music- praising african and middle eastern culture). and she wears it well.
