Demi Lovato, despite her fame and luck, hasn’t gone through life without being bullied. In fact, Demi was bullied so harshly while she was growing up that she was forced to drop out of school.

“Bullying is something I went though when I was 12 years old,” the Sonny with a Chance star tells Cambio, “I actually ended up leaving school because of it.”

“I just called my mom and I was crying and I said ‘I don’t want to go to school any more’. It was a rough time, I was by myself.”

Demi was forced to drop out of school and enter home schooling which is where she met pal Selena Gomez. “I actually home schooled with Selena Gomez,” Demi explains, “So she was a good friend to me then and she still is.”

Bullying has become a big issue issue in the media but Demi has always been an outspoken anti-bullying advocate. The “La La Land” singer even visited the set of America’s Next Top Model to speak out about bullying. Watch Demi’s appearance below.

Luckily, Demi has overcome being bullied and has gone on to become an international success. You know what they say: the best revenge is living well, and Demi is not only a super success, she is also setting an example for teens everywhere.
