Witness: Justin Bieber’s Innocent in Laser Tag Fracas

By: / October 21, 2010

By now, every dedicated Justin Bieber fan (and really, isn’t that all of us?) has heard about the alleged confrontation that the “Baby” singer got into during a hearty round of laser tag in Richmond, British Columbia last week. It’s a story rife with ugly accusations: Shoving. Assault. Homophobic slurs. And, in general, grossly unsportsmanlike conduct that frankly has no place in the noble tradition of laser tag.

But an eyewitness to the alleged altercation has bravely stepped forward to clear the air, and it appears that the situation has been blown wildly out of proportion. Michael Kwen, a laser tagger who was on hand during the now-infamous exchange, tells E! Online that when Bieber and his alleged 12-year-old victim emerged from the laser tag maze, the latter approached his father, while Bieber recounted the situation to Kwen:

“He told me that he accidentally hit the kid while trying to escape by running through him and his friends…It was just a normal game of laser tag, people will always bump into you…There was no, there was absolutely no homophobic slurs at all towards Justin Bieber, or anything like that…I think that [the media is] making a bigger deal out of it than it is, because basically nothing actually happened.”

But the media not be the only ones to blame for creating a tempest in a teapot in this case: Kwen goes on to note that the 12-year-old’s father wasn’t exactly the voice of calm and reason following the alleged incident:

“He was yelling, like he was a lawyer…saying that Justin Bieber assaulted his kid.”

Sounds like Biebs may be off the legal hook with this one. Stealing hearts, however? Oh, yeah; he’s still totally guilty as charged. (And if you don’t believe us, go ahead and examine the evidence for yourself in Celebuzz’s compendium of Justin Bieber’s Best Looks.)
