Prison Guard Suspended for Visiting Lil Wayne in Solitary

By: / October 27, 2010

A 20-year veteran guard at Rikers Island prison has been suspended without pay for 10 days after cameras caught him enjoying an unexplained visit with Lil Wayne for 45 minutes.

“We don’t know what he was doing. We know the camera picked him up,” a source told NY Daily News, adding that the guard’s explanation ”did not suffice to explain the time he spent” in Wayne’s company, who is supposed to be serving out the rest of his one year gun sentence in isolation after being caught with an illegal-in-prison mp3 player earlier this year.

The president of the corrections guard unit maintains the guard in question did not break any rules during his visit.

Events like these have bookended Lil Wayne’s stay at Rikers, as he is expected to check out next week. A female guard was fired not long after the rapper arrived for the same reason.
