Lil Wayne Posts Final Letter Before Thursday Release
Lil Wayne posted one last heartfelt letter to his fans on his blog weezythanxyou.com to show his appreciation for their support and letters before his release from Rikers Island prison in New York this Thursday.
On his first day behind bars, Weezy (real name Dwayne Carter) says he received over 300 letters, some of which made him cry. He plans to continue to respond to fan letters he’s already received and also to continue to post more thank yous on his site.
“As I greet you all in my last days on this island, I must reflect. I think back to when I first arrived and I had no clue of what I’d be experiencing. I was never scared, worried, nor bothered by the situation. For that, I thank God, my family, and you, my amazing fans. I prayed for you all every night, as I’m aware that I was in your prayers as well,” the rapper wrote, adding, “I will be the same Martian I was when I left, just better.”
Upon his release, Wayne will have served 80% of a one year sentence on gun charges stemming from a July 2007 arrest.
