Taylor Swift: 1 Million Albums in One Week (VIDEO)

Taylor Swift is capping off a whirlwind week filled of surprise performances and wax figure unveilings with entry to an elite group of artists: The one million album debut club.

Billboard reports T-Swift’s much-buzzed-about new effort Speak Now will debut at  No. 1 on this week’s album chart with 1,047,000 copies sold. Cracking the one million album mark in the first week of sales is an impressive feat in the iTunes era. Need proof? The last time an album sold one million copies in its first week was more than two years ago, when Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter 3 broke through with more than a million (aka ‘A Milli’) copies.

Swift joins an illustrious group of artists who cracked one million albums in their first week of sales, including Eminem, 50 Cent, N Sync and the Backstreet Boys. Britney Spears achieved it with Oops I Did It Again in 2000, Whitney Houston topped the million mark with The Bodyguard soundtrack in 1993 and Usher did it in 2004 with Confessions.
