Demi Lovato’s Rep Denies She’s in Treatment for Substance Abuse
Demi Lovato’s current rehab stint has been the source of much speculation, much of it nasty—such as the rumor that emerged today that the Sonny With a Chance star had been abusing alcohol and cocaine in the period prior to being admitted to a treatment facility.
But such scuttlebutt is untrue—at least according to Lovato’s rep, who flatly denied such claims to TMZ on Wednesday.
“Demi Lovato is not in treatment for drug or alcohol addiction. As we have said since she entered treatment last week, Demi decided to seek help for emotional and physical issues she has battled throughout her life.”
The rep further adds that the so-far-undisclosed “issues” will remain undisclosed, at least for the time being:
“She has taken this step in order to get her life in order. While we know many are interested in Demi and her life, we do ask for a modicum of privacy during this difficult time.”
News of Lovato’s rehab admission broke on November 1, after the 18-year-old Camp Rock star reportedly got in a scuffle with a female backup dancer from the Camp Rock 2 tour, which Lovato dropped out of in order to seek treatment.
