‘Potter’ Frenzy Takes Over TV; ‘Hallows’ Leaks

The cast of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 have touched down on American soil, breathed the sweet air of freedom and learned the value of a dollar. Now, the people at MTV are attempting to continue their transformation by teaching the Potter leads to talk “American.”

Using phrases like “The Olive Garden,” “Justin Bieber is the man” and “Twilight blows,” the cast is urged to shoot for perfection in a video segment called “American Talk.”

In other Potter press, Tom Felton, the actor who plays Harry’s nemesis Draco Malfoy, revealed to Jay Leno on The Tonight Show how scared he remains of his “hero” Alan Rickman, who plays the series’ long-suspected bad guy Severus Snape, Draco’s cloaked mentor. He recounted a moment from shooting the first film:

“He actually said — He has an incredibly dry sense of humor I’m sure you know — and he turned around to us before setting the scene and said, ‘Don’t step on my effing cloak.'”

“Of course, the director asked me to get right up behind Alan. First take, what do I do? I step straight on his effing cloak, and it’s tied to his neck, so it almost gave him stage 3 whiplash.”

To Warner Bros. horror, the first 36 minutes of Deathly Hallows: Part 1 has been leaked onto the Internet. They promptly issued a warning statement:

“This constitutes a serious breach of copyright violation and theft of Warner Bros. property. We are working actively to restrict and/or remove copies that may be available. Also, we are vigorously investigating this matter and will prosecute those involved to the full extent of the law.”

Despite their efforts, the leak’s source has yet to be identified. Last year’s Potter, Half-Blood Prince, was illegally downloaded over 8 million times, putting it amongst the most pirated movies of the year. Even still, it grossed $934 million worldwide.
