Casting the New 'Wizard of Oz' (PHOTOS)
A tornado is about to blow though Hollywood and transport the town to a technicolor dreamland filled with kindly munchkins and Emerald Cities. In other words, Wizard of Oz is getting the remake treatment!
Seventy-one years after the original with Judy Garland, casting directors will be tasked with finding a modern Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. Lea Michele in ruby red slippers? Lady Gaga as the Wicked Witch of the West? We're not in the (original) Kansas anymore!

Not for the original witch... she's too beautiful and too amazing. Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, yes. But this? No. Maybe Catherine Zeta-Jones... or Nicole Kidman as Glinda.

Just about every actress who has ever played pre-teen Alice in Alice in Wonderland has been at least in her 20s... why should Dorothy be any different? Diana Ross was in her early 30s when she played the role in "The Wiz" and Zooey Deschanel played the part in her 20s in "Tin Man"... Anne Hathaway would be fantastic.
Why don't they make a WICKED movie instead of an Oz remake????

Courtney Lynn Parks has what it takes in every way...her vocal strenght and abilities have been compaired to the great Judy Garland by many Media, Newspapers, Television, Journalist, Anchor Crew, etc,. Courtney Parks has studied Judy Garland for many years, she has maturity, talent, vocal range, acting, performences, experience, etc,. for this role! "MGM" never gave this legend her respect and I hope Warner Bros, give it to Judy Garland by reaching outside of the "Hollywood" thinking and seeks the right singer, actor, for the roll? The Wizard Of Oz should never had been considered for a "Remake" it is AMAZING just as it is...if Warner Bros. uses it's Artistic thingking they may have a chance at success, however keep to the same "She's Hot right NOW so let's use her" they will flop!! Judy Garland deserves only the best love and appreciation for her gift to us as "The Greatest Performer"!!!

They can't remake this movie! it would never have the charm and magic the original had! If they want to release The Wizard of Oz why don't they just rerelease the original for new generations to enjoy. -_-

She should be Dorothy definitely!! I see Judy and LIza in her and she's a really good singer. She's got the quirks that Dorothy had in the movie. If Anne doesn't get to play Dorothy then the movie won't be worth watching.

@ Troy Mauricio this is not a remake it will be closer to the book and won't be a musical the Title of it is "L. Frank Baum's the Wonderful Wizard of Oz" Dorothy should be played by a younger actress In the book she is around 11
