James Franco Joining Nicole Kidman on Broadway?
Days after James Franco locked down the job as co-host of this year's Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway, the 127 Hours actor is now reportedly in talks to star on Broadway alongside Nicole Kidman for the Great White Way's first production of Tennessee Williams' play Sweet Bird of Youth in 35 years.
Sources tell Showbiz 411 that Franco and mega producer Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, Clueless, Zoolander and loads of other hits) have been discussing the Chase Wayne role for a while. Working rehearsals around Franco's Yale class schedule is the only hang-up keeping it from being a done deal.
The role itself has known its fair share of greats. Hollywood legend Paul Newman played the part for the 1962 film, and cowbell proponent Christopher Walken was the last man with the job on Broadway back in 1975. Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman will, of course, replace Elizabeth Taylor as faded movie star Alexandra DeLago.
