James Franco Returning to ‘General Hospital’
It’s a well-known fact that James Franco is a fan of keeping busy. New evidence: before he hosts the Oscars with Anne Hathway on February 27, 2011, the esteemed actor and perennial student plans to return for a guest appearance on the ABC soap General Hospital.
In a press release dispatched to reporters Thursday, the network (which also happens to broadcast the Oscars) announced that 127 Hours star James will make a two-episode comeback on the daytime soap, reprising the role of tortured (and somewhat creepy) artist Franco on Friday February 25 and Monday February 28.
James began his recurring role on the soap in 2009, sparking a spike in ratings and widespread head-scratching. He later admitted his soap stint was a bit of performance art. Our takeaway? It’s nice to know that even though he’s helming the Oscars, Hollywood’s biggest, glitziest night, James hasn’t gotten too big to play Franco. Also, we’d venture to say this is the first time the host of the Oscars will be bookending his big-time gig with cameo appearances on General Hospital. For that, we salute James!
