Leighton Meester Gives Gossip Girl ‘Two More Years’
OMFG; is the scandalous Gossip Girl saga preparing to come to an end? According to Leighton Meester, it is sadly so.
Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf on the popular CW series, signaled to E! Online that her run on the show is wrapping up over the weekend. Asked how long she might be remaining with the show, Meester noted,
“Two more years.”
What’s more, she suggests, the series itself could very well come to an end when she makes her exit, noting,
“I think there’s that old saying about wanting to go out on top.”
Don’t worry, though; despite her budding big-screen career (her upcoming theatrical releases include the Gwyneth Paltrow co-starrer Country Strong; Monte Carlo, with Selena Gomez and Glee’s Cory Monteith; and The Roommate, which also stars Minka Kelly), Meester, 24, doesn’t plan to give up TV work altogether—assuming an appropriate project comes along:
“I never say never. It would have to be the right show just like it would have [to be] the right movie.”
