Could Justin Bieber add “Oscar winner” to his list of accolades next year?

FOX News reports that the “Baby” singer has made the list of potential nominees for the Original Song category for next year’s Academy Awards. The Biebs landed on the list for “Never Say Never,” his collaboration with Jaden Smith, which appeared in this year’s remake of The Karate Kid. (Smith also starred in the movie.)

The 16-year-old singer/heartthrob will be facing off against 40 other potential nominees, including “Welcome to Burlesque” (from the Christina Aguilera/Cher movie Burlesque), “Alice” (from Alice in Wonderland), and “Eclipse: All Yours” (from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse).

The Music Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will review movie clips from each song on January 6, and the actual nominations will be announced on January 25. The 83rd annual Academy Awards will take place on February 27, 2011.
