George Clooney and Sandra Bullock will be getting out of this world together pretty soon.

Deadline New York reports that Clooney has signed on to co-star with Bullock in the upcoming 3D action-adventure flick Gravity. Clooney—who's replacing Robert Downey Jr. in the movie due to scheduling conflicts—will play the captain of a space station that's decimated by the debris from an exploding asteroid. As the only survivors of the collision, Clooney and Bullock's character—a mother who's determined to return her child to Earth—embark on a shuttle in an effort to save themselves.

The film is scheduled to begin production in late April or early May, once Bullock finishes her current project, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which co-stars Tom Hanks.
