Taylor Momsen Apologizes for Enraging Scottish Crowd

Taylor Momsen has once again uttered a controversial statement—but this time it had nothing to do with, um, battery-powered accessories.

The 17-year-old Gossip Girl wild child-turned-musician drew the ire of a Scottish audience—and displayed her struggles with geography—while performing with her band, The Pretty Reckless, in Glasgow last Monday.

Stepping out onto the stage with her band The Pretty Reckless, the heavily mascara-ed songbird declared,

“Glasgow you are looking good tonight. We are The Pretty Reckless and we have heard Glasgow is the craziest crowd in all of England.”

This didn’t sit well with the crowd, who greeted the geographical gaffe with a resounding chorus of jeers. Attendee Paul Krane told Scottish newspaper the Daily Record,

“The noise from the crowd was deafening. People began to cheer as they presumed she was going tosay Scotland, but when the penny dropped (when they realized) all you could hear was boos.”

Eventually—though well after the show—Momsen realized her goof, apologizing on her Twitter account:

“Glasgow, I love you, I now Have to tour Scotland (haha, sorry about the slip up!)”
