‘Breaking Dawn’ Producer Spills Juicy New Details

Fear not, Twi-hards; the first half of Twilight finale Breaking Dawn won’t be coming to the big screen until November, but producer Wyck Godfrey is offering scintillating new details about how the conclusion of the vampire saga will play out on the big screen.

Speaking from the Baton Rouge, Louisiana set of Breaking Dawn, Godfrey recently opened up to USA Today about certain key details about the two-parter, starting with the much-debated decision to split Breaking Dawn into two films. According to Godfrey,

“We basically want to take the audience through the emotional part of Bella’s journey as she becomes a vampire. The first part will cover the wedding, the honeymoon and the birth. The film ends just before she embarks on her supernatural transformation.”

Speaking of the birth, Godfrey also delivers some dish on Bella Swan’s hotly discussed birth scene. While earlier reports suggested that the birth scene would be a particularly gruesome visual spectacle, the producer notes that Breaking Dawn will circumvent an R rating by portraying the birth through Bella’s eyes:

“She is looking through the haze, experiencing pain and everything rushing around her. We only see what she sees.”

And, while many fans were anticipating a graphic sex scene between Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for the series’ send-off, Godfrey notes, “it does not become soft porn. It is a legitimate and important part of the movie, romantic and sensual.”

Now if Godfrey would only answer the real question that’s weighing on Twilight fanatics’ minds—namely, why can’t the movies just come out already?

Do you agree with the approach for Breaking Dawn that Godfrey is laying out? If not, what would you change? Let us know in the comments section.
