Britney Spears New Single Breaks Radio Records

"Hold It Against Me," Britney Spears' newly-released single, broke radio records on its first day, shooting to #1 on iTunes.

Her label Jive Records says the tune, from Britney's much-anticipated upcoming album, set the record for most radio plays on the first day of release. Industry analyst Mark McCabe says the track had 595 spins on Monday, a record for first or single-day play.

"Top 40 outlets across the country immediately put 'Hold It Against Me' in rotation and received instant-reaction airplay at America's most-influential stations, including Z100 and WXRK in New York and KIIS and KAMP in Los Angeles," McCabe said, highlighting the amazing numbers.

Earlier in the week, MTV News spoke with the program director of New York's Z100 who told them, "When I originally heard it in December, it blew me away from the first listen, and the same thing happened when we played it on Elvis Duran's morning show [Monday]; our Facebook and Twitter pages exploded. People are going crazy for it. They heard the leaked version and loved it, and now they're loving the official version too. I can see it being another huge hit for her."

And if you've been living under a rock, here it is again:

Britney in my opinion is a power house. She has 12 years on all these new artist. She hasnt to date had a flop, Rolling Stones raved Blackout to be the 7th best album of the century! Blackout a flop hardly. She is here and has proven by every hit she puts out she isn't going anywhere. I agree 100% ! This new album will sell and haters will hate, why because that's what they do!

Getting great spin on Z100 is no biggie these days and doesn't set any record. What radio record did she break, exactly? Research the facts. This single only made #8 on one, ONE, SiriusXM radio station. The rest won't touch it. Just because Britney has a name or a pre-determined reputation to uphold out there somewhere doesn't give anyone the right to lie or bend the truth. Mark's statements can be bought for a song. Yes, McCabe, you are one incredible anal---yst. On an ET poll, over 85-90% of viewers on this ONE show either prefer her old stuff or they'll wait til the album flops---uhm, drops. You call that "back"? Not even close for a former Grammy artist. It's a disappointing first day in that case.
