Miley Cyrus Breaks Ratings Record

Miley Cyrus knows how to throw a rockin’ going away party: The series finale for Hannah Montana attracted 6.2 million viewers on Sunday, setting a new ratings record for the Disney Channel.

The final episode of the show was the No. 1 show at the 7 PM hour for both the 6-11 and 9-14 age groups. The show’s huge draw broke the Disney Channel’s record for viewers 6-11, a key demographic for the kid-oriented channel.

Hannah Montana Forever, the fourth and final season for Miley’s Disney franchise, was also the most-watched season in the show’s history amongst tweens 9-14.

The final episode of Hannah Montana marks Miley’s final exit from the Disney Channel. The 18-year-old star has matured a lot since she wrapped filming on the show in 2010, releasing Can’t Be Tamed, starring in feature films and showing off a new, sexier image.

Hannah Montana wasn’t the only youth-focused show this week that drew in a lot of viewers– MTV’s Skins had huge ratings for a series debut, drawing 3.3 viewers on Monday night with 2.7 million of viewers falling in the 12-34 demographic.
